Car Wrap

Discover quick answers to common questions about car wraps – from the wrapping process and costs to removal and the key differences between wraps and paint. Elevate your vehicle’s style with ease.

Car wrapping is the meticulous application of a specialized vinyl film onto the painted surface of a vehicle, offering versatility in appearance, ranging from a single color to complex patterns or designs. This vinyl features a self-adhesive layer, ensuring secure attachment to the vehicle’s surface.

A vinyl vehicle wrap is effortlessly removable! The removal process is straightforward and efficient, requiring the right tools and experience. When executed correctly, removing a vehicle wrap poses no risk of causing damage to the underlying paint.

Prices fluctuate based on factors such as the vehicle, color, material, complexity of the job, design, and more. Our full car color vinyl wrapping services begin at $2300.

The duration of the wrap process varies based on the size and scope, typically falling within a timeframe of 3-5 days. Prior to commencing the process, we offer our customers a detailed time estimate for their specific project.

The primary distinction between a wrap and paint lies in permanence; paint is permanent, while a vinyl wrap is removable. Cost is another factor differentiate painting and wrapping. A proper paint job at a dealership can cost around $7000+tax, whereas a wrap is less than half this price. Wrapping offers a cost-effective alternative, providing design versatility and protection for the original paint.

Colibri Car Styling boasts an in-house graphic designer utilizing the latest technology. Or you can provide your own design. We collaborate directly with clients, ensuring their branding aligns with their vision. Approval on final mockups or proofs is obtained before moving on to the printing stage.

The answer is yes, and no. It depends on several variables that include the type of plastic and how it was produced. Much of the success or failure will depend on the knowledge and experience of the vinyl applicator.

Yes, you do need to go to Service Ontario and obtain the new vehicle’s ownership. However if the original color is the same or similar, but different shades or different finish, then you don’t have to go to Service Ontario. For example you are changing from Gloss Light Grey to Matte Dark Grey, then you don’t have to change the ownership.

Wrapping a car with dents, swirls, rust, or scratches is possible, but it may affect the final result. Here are some considerations for each type of issue:

1. Dents: it will be visible through the wrap, as vinyl conforms to the surface contours. The wrap may not adhere properly to dented areas. It’s best to repair dents before applying the wrap to achieve a smooth, professional finish.

2. Swirls and Minor Scratches: Minor swirls and scratches usually won’t affect the wrap’s adhesion but may be slightly visible if they are deep. At Colibri, we offer polishing to minimize the appearance of deeper scratches under the wrap. We charge extra for it, but it helps achieving better results.
3. Rust: it can prevent the wrap from adhering properly and may worsen under the wrap due to trapped moisture. Rust should be treated and removed before wrapping. This may involve sanding down the rusted areas, applying rust treatment, and repainting if necessary.
By properly preparing your car, you can ensure the vinyl wrap adheres correctly and looks its best.

White cars often cost more to wrap due to a few key reasons:

1. Additional Preparation: White cars may require extra preparation to ensure the original color does not show through the wrap. This is particularly important when using lighter or translucent wraps.

2. Visibility of Imperfections: Any imperfections or contaminants are more visible on white surfaces, necessitating more meticulous cleaning and preparation before the wrap is applied.

3. Edge Wrapping: On white cars, extra attention is needed to wrap edges and corners thoroughly to prevent the white color from peeking through, especially if the wrap is a dark color. Disassembling some parts like bumper, fenders, headlights is required.

4. Base Layer: Sometimes, an additional base layer or primer wrap is applied to white cars to enhance the durability and appearance of the final wrap.

5. Higher Demand for Perfection: Customers often expect a flawless finish on white cars, leading installers to spend more time ensuring a perfect application.

These factors collectively contribute to the higher cost of wrapping white cars.

Vinyl wraps typically last between 5 to 7 years, depending on several factors such as:

1. Quality of the Vinyl: High-quality vinyl wraps can last longer compared to lower-quality ones. At Colibri, we work only with high-quality films such as 3M, Avery and Hexis.
2. Installation: Proper installation by a professional can extend the lifespan of the wrap.
3. Maintenance: Regular cleaning and proper maintenance can help preserve the wrap. You must never wash your car at a car wash that uses brushes. Perform only hand or touchless car wash.
4. Environmental Conditions: Exposure to harsh weather conditions, prolonged sunlight, and other environmental factors can affect the longevity of the wrap.

With proper care, some high-quality wraps can last even up to 10 years.

Bubbles can appear when applying a car wrap due to trapped air between the adhesive vinyl and the surface of the car. This can happen if the vinyl is not applied smoothly or if there are contaminants on the car surface.

If the bubbles appear after applying the vinyl wrap, allow it to set for a period specified by the manufacturer. This allows any remaining air bubbles to dissipate naturally. If your car was wrapped with Colibri Car Styling, we always ask customers to come for a follow-up inspection and not to fix it yourself. Simply bring your car back and we can fix it for you.

If you wrapped your car elsewhere, we can give a tip how to gently remove the bubble. Gently poke a small hole with a needle or pin at the edge of the bubble. Then, use the squeegee to press the air out towards the hole.

Certainly, we can wrap leased vehicles without causing any damage. Our wraps are lease-friendly, with no restrictions against custom wraps on leased vehicles.

Auto Detailing

Explore essential information about car detailing in our concise FAQ section. From the detailing process to addressing scratches and pet hair removal, get quick insights. For packaging and pricing, please visit Hand Car Wash page.

For optimal car health, it’s advisable to consider detailing your car whenever you get an oil change or at least twice a year. The frequency of detailing depends on the wear and tear your car experiences and your desired aesthetic standards. Regular detailing not only enhances the resale value and appearance of your vehicle but also contributes to extending its overall lifespan.

Assessing the paint condition can be done through two simple tests:

  • After washing and drying your car, lightly run your hand along the upper surfaces. Smooth surfaces indicate a well-protected finish. If you sense rough spots or drag, it’s time for waxing.
  • Spray water on the car. Tight beads indicate sufficient protection. Loose beads suggest inadequate protection, and no beads indicate no protection, signaling an immediate need for wax application.

Rest assured, pet hair is easily addressed. Our dedicated team employs a specialized air system and meticulous hand techniques to thoroughly eliminate any pet hair, leaving your vehicle’s interior completely hair-free.

The duration of car detailing is subject to several factors, encompassing the vehicle’s size and condition, the specific detailing service chosen, and the proficiency of the detailer. Typically, a standard car detailing session lasts around 2 hours, while more extensive detailing for vehicles may extend to 2-5 hours.

While car detailing focuses on cleaning and restoring a vehicle, its capability to remove scratches depends on their severity and the chosen detailing service. For minor paint scratches, detailing can be beneficial. Light surface scratches can be addressed through compounding, isolating the scratched area. If the scratches extend through one or two layers of the paint’s clear coat, a car detailer may employ wet sanding. However, if the scratches are deep and penetrate the clear coat entirely, repainting may be necessary.

Waxing primarily serves as a protective layer, minimizing potential paint damage from elements like bugs and bird droppings.

On the other hand, polishing employs a mildly abrasive polishing compound to address existing paint damage and elevate your paint to a glossy finish. Polishing is recommended for correcting specific paint imperfections. Our detailer is readily available to assess and evaluate your vehicle’s needs.

Car Protection

Explore key information about car protection in our concise FAQ section. From the lifespan of ceramic coatings to their impact on paint chips, discover insights guiding informed decisions.

Paint Protection Film, commonly known as clear bra, clear wrap, or paint shield, is a transparent and durable film that is seamlessly applied to your vehicle’s exterior. PPF serves as an effective shield, protecting your car’s paint from various hazards such as bird droppings, UV-ray exposure, bug splatters, as well as chips and scratches caused by road debris and rocks. The top layer of this urethane film possesses “self-healing” properties through elastomeric polymers, reverting to its pristine, pre-incident condition, even when scratched.

No, Paint Protection Film (PPF) will not harm your car’s factory paint. The film’s advanced acrylic adhesive ensures no residue or damage upon professional removal. However, in cases where the car has undergone a subpar paint job, there may be a risk of paint peeling during removal.

Certainly! Ceramic coating can be applied over PPF, extending its lifespan and elevating the glossy finish. Additionally, ceramic coating simplifies cleaning and maintenance.

Yes, any PPF can be effortlessly applied on chrome. However, there might be a slight difference in appearance compared to leaving it unprotected. Therefore, before installation, we recommend applying a small swatch on the desired surface to preview the end result.

Certainly, you can use a pressure washer on PPF clear bra paint protection films. It is generally safe to wash the car after 48 hours, allowing sufficient time for the film to dry completely post-installation. However, it’s essential to avoid directing high-pressure water directly on the edges.

In essence, PPF doesn’t fix scratches or chips. While smaller swirls and scratches may be somewhat masked by the film’s adhesive, we recommend having your vehicle undergo Paint Correction before PPF installation to address minor scratches and swirls. PPF is akin to a screen protector on your phone—light scratches may be less visible, but any underlying debris or damage remains noticeable, especially in the case of rock chips and missing paint. Even with touch-ups, these areas might be more visible after PPF installation.

The lifespan of ceramic coatings depends on factors such as the coating type, environmental conditions, and how well it’s maintained. For example, Ceramic Pro establishes a robust bond with the paintwork, offering durability that can span several years on a well-maintained car.

Ceramic Pro is resistant to chemicals, ensuring it won’t be washed away by potent car wash shampoos or cleaning agents. However, aggressive washing methods, such as brushes or automatic car washes, can diminish the product’s lifespan. We recommend using microfiber cloths for car washing.

Regular and proper maintenance, including weekly or fortnightly washing, is crucial for optimal results and the extended lifespan of ceramic coatings. Keep in mind that neglect, such as infrequent washing, can diminish the product’s performance and durability.
